Roland GW8

The world of music is filled with various instruments such as drums, trumpets that make people groove to their tunes. However, music is incomplete without the punch of digital keyboards.

The GW8 from Roland is a keyboard that every musician will vie for. It is one of the unique GW-Series, which has an intelligent backing-track. Roland’s GW8 is fresh, contemporary and has expressive and interactive styles of every music genre. It has brought the entire world of music to the fingertips with its authentic ethnic style and multi-format USB features. If you are a lone performer, then GW8 is a must for you.

Its exclusive features include a modern workstation that has a high quality 128 voice sound engine, fabulously derived from Roland’s renowned Fantom-X series. You will not find this kind of workstation on any other keyboard on this planet. GW8 has surplus contemporary sounds and interactive backing styles, which exclusively play music of Latin American genres.

In addition, it has additional banks and ethnic styles and sounds of countries from all around the world. Thus, this is a best instrument if you are planning to give live shows in different countries of the world. Besides, you can also record and store your performances with its onboard 16-track sequencer.

GW8 has the most realistic brass section in the entire range of Roland’s products. It has an expressive D BEAM and an Analog Modify knob, which permits instant adjustments in sound to groove the audience. The GW8 is a must buy for musicians who play multiple roles in their performances.

The GW8 is powerfully packed with intelligent Backing styles that represent a comprehensive range of music genres such as pop, rock, dance, jazz and all other forms of music that are a rage amongst the audience. Each of its backing style has four intros and four ending progressions to craft live musical arrangements.

Exclusive features of GW8

The accessories of GW8 include each and everything, which a next generation musician vies for. It has a multi-format Song player that supports all types of music formats such as MP3, WAV, AIFF, and SMF. Roland’s GW8 also has a style converter and a Playlist editor, which can help you to convert your own MIDI data into GW8 supporting styles. Through the Playlist Editor provided in GW8, you can customize the order of songs as per your wish.

Features lacking in GW8

A majority of features of GW8 are mostly designed keeping live performances in mind. It also has very less effects required for sound recording. Considering its appeal as a next generation keyboard, it also lacks a designer touch.G

GW8 Bottom Line

Roland’s GW8 with all its technical features and in-built exclusive traits stands up to its expectations of being a next generation keyboard. Musicians or keyboard players who want to present something new and innovative in a Live Performance to their audience should definitely add this masterpiece to their music kit. In all, a best bet for musicians who like to interact with the audience while performing.

I’m looking for a reasonably priced workstation that has good acoustic, orchestral, organ and synth sounds. I was hoping that you’ll comment on the sounds on the gw-8 as it is one of the contenders. The others are e-09w which I have not see or heard any demos of, and the others are yamaha psrs550b, mo8, mm8 or the ypg-635, because I like the feel of a piano keyboard.

Can you enlarge on the sound palate of the gw-8 and give me an opinion about the others?

One huge unique gift of this board is a whopping 256 meg of samples. Not to mention the sample cell contribution to clarity and hi-res. RSS 3D sound field built in on some of the effects > delay, reverb, chorus around four effects.

Very excillent offering for 1000.00 synth.
There are quite a lot of adjustments also under the hood. Pull down the manual.

Are the Hammond-type organ, flute and bass sounds on the roland gw 8 as good or better than those on the e-09? And which machine is easiar to make quick adjustments ‘on the fly’?
    Thanks for your response!

Would The Roland GW8 be good for making your own backing tracks… and record and save them to a usb memory stick?
